eBay Business Policies

Sync your existing eBay payment, shipping, and return policies into the vault and apply them by default.

Last updated May 11, 2026

Business Policies are the payment, shipping, and return rule sets you've already configured inside My eBay. They're how eBay decides "this listing accepts PayPal, ships USPS Ground, has a 30-day return window." The vault syncs them so you don't have to retype any of that on every listing.

Sync your policies

  1. Make sure your eBay account is connected (see Connecting eBay).
  2. Go to Connections → eBay → Business Policies (or /connections/ebay/policies).
  3. Click Sync now. The vault pulls every active payment, fulfillment, and return policy from your seller account and stores a local copy in our ebay_business_policies table.
  4. You'll see them listed by name with their policy IDs. Active policies are eligible for use in Marketplace Templates and individual listings.

Re-syncing

If you change a policy in My eBay (e.g. add a new shipping service), come back and click Sync now again. The vault will:

  • Add policies that are new on eBay's side.
  • Update names and descriptions on policies that already exist locally.
  • Mark policies as inactive locally if eBay reports them as ended.

When to make a new policy

Most dealers ship from one location with two or three shipping speeds and a single return window — one set of policies covers everything. If you sell across multiple shipping locations (e.g. domestic plus a UK warehouse) or have very different return rules for raw vs. graded, build separate policies inside My eBay first, then sync.

Why policies live on eBay's side

The vault deliberately doesn't let you create or edit Business Policies — that has to happen inside My eBay so eBay's risk system stays the single source of truth. We mirror them locally for speed and for the Marketplace Templates preset system.

What's next

Once your policies are synced, build a Marketplace Template that bundles them with a default category and location.
